What it means
Learning is often made to look solitary: someone consuming enough information until they become impressive. This verse gives it a different shape. Read, write, observe, ask, and spend time with people who make you think further. None of these alone is enough. Reading without writing stays untested. Observing without asking stays private. Being around thoughtful people matters because a good question, or a better way of seeing, can change the direction of your own mind.
A reflection
It turns learning into a living system.
The first line moves quickly through five verbs: read, write, observe, ask, seek out the wise. Then it slows into one image: a lotus opening in sunlight. Intelligence is not presented as something fixed or possessed. It opens through the conditions we keep returning to.
