What it means
Skill can open a door. But the verse points to what lets a person remain in the room: vinaya. It is not meekness. It is knowing how to listen, speak without making every exchange a contest, and keep learning from whoever is in front of you. The result is pātratā: being someone fit to be trusted with responsibility, opportunity, and other people. That is a wider kind of competence than professional talent alone.
A reflection
It builds a life as a chain reaction.
Each quarter gives one cause and its consequence: learning, humility, worthiness, resources, right conduct, happiness. The verse does not treat humility as an ornament added after success. It makes humility the first proof that learning has actually changed someone.
