Where it came from

Italy

longstanding home tradition

Caffè latte literally means coffee with milk. Italians had long mixed the two at home; the large café latte was later shaped by American and Australian coffee culture.

Steamed milk
180–240 g

  1. 01

    Pull

Extract a double espresso into a 250 to 300 ml cup.

  2. 02

    Steam

Steam enough milk for a silky, lightly aerated texture.

  3. 03

    Pour

Pour slowly into the centre, keeping the foam thin and glossy.

At a café

Choose a latte when you want a creamy, forgiving cup. Oat and dairy milk both work well, but texture differs.
