The method
- 01
Set up
Fit a paper filter into the cap and rinse it. Assemble the AeroPress in the standard upright position over a sturdy mug.
- 02
Add coffee and water
Add 15 g of ground coffee. Start the timer, pour 230 g of water, and stir gently for about 10 seconds.
- 03
Steep
Insert the plunger just enough to create a seal. Let the coffee steep until 1:30.
- 04
Press
Press slowly and steadily for about 30 seconds. Stop when you hear the first hiss rather than forcing every last drop through.
- 05
Taste and adjust
Drink as it is or add a small splash of hot water if you want a longer cup.
Good to know
make it your own- 01Finer grinds and longer steeping bring more body; coarser grinds keep it lighter.
- 02Use a sturdy mug and keep the press slow. Rushing it adds grit and bitterness.
- 03For a milk drink, make the same recipe with 100 g water, then top up with warm milk.
